The Ministry of Education has officially announced the school timings for public school students for the academic year 2025-2026. The schedule is as follows:
In a time plan shared with relevant parties, the ministry has divided the first cycle, specifically for grades one to four, into two groups to streamline daily attendance.
For the first group, morning assembly will take place from 7:15 AM to 7:25 AM, with the first class starting at 7:25 AM. The school day will continue until 1:25 PM, with a total of 7 classes each day, including two breaks from 9:00 AM to 9:20 AM and from 11:05 AM to 11:20 AM.
The second group will have its morning assembly from 8:00 AM to 8:15 AM, commencing the first class at 8:15 AM, with the day ending at 1:35 PM. This group will have 10 classes, separated by two breaks from 10:00 AM to 10:20 AM and from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM.
On Fridays, both groups will finish at 10:35 AM after only 4 classes, with a brief recess from 8:50 AM to 9:05 AM. The total number of classes for the first cycle amounts to 32 weekly, with each class lasting 40 minutes, ensuring a balance between the educational material and break periods.
Early Start for Boys
Boys in grades five to twelve will also have an early start to their school day, with morning assembly occurring from 7:15 AM to 7:25 AM, followed by the first class starting at 7:25 AM. The school day will run until 2:15 PM from Monday to Thursday.
This schedule includes 8 classes daily, with breaks occurring from 9:00 AM to 9:20 AM and from 11:45 AM to 12:00 PM. Boys will be classified in the first group, while girls will form the second group.
On Fridays, the school day for boys will commence at 7:15 AM and conclude at 10:35 AM, consisting of just 4 classes, with a short break from 8:50 AM to 9:05 AM. Thus, the weekly total will be 36 classes, with each class extending for 45 minutes, reflecting the academic content scope and its connection to college and career readiness.
Later Start for Girls
For girls in the same two grades, the ministry has established a later start to the day. Morning assembly will be held from 8:00 AM to 8:15 AM, followed by the first period starting at 8:15 AM, with classes continuing until 3:30 PM from Monday to Thursday. Their school day will also consist of 8 classes, with breaks from 10:00 AM to 10:20 AM and from 12:35 PM to 12:50 PM.
On Fridays, girls will begin their day at 8:00 AM and finish at 11:45 AM, similarly attending only 4 classes with a brief recess from 8:50 AM to 9:05 AM. The total count for classes remains 36 weekly, with each class lasting 45 minutes, demonstrating the ministry’s consideration for balancing academic schedules with daily life demands.
