The much-anticipated action thriller film, Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, has finally premiered in theaters. Excitement surrounding the release has been heightened with the announcement of a sequel, confirmed by the film’s actor Rakesh Bedi. This follow-up film is poised for a showdown with another major release, Yash’s Toxic.
The sequel to Dhurandhar is officially slated for a March 19, 2026 release, coinciding with Eid celebrations. Initially released on December 5, 2025, the film featured a four-minute post-credit scene that served as a teaser for the sequel, now subtitled ‘Revenge’. This highly anticipated follow-up will indeed compete with Toxic at the box office.
Rakesh Bedi provided further insights on the sequel shortly before its official announcement. Participating in an interview, Bedi confirmed the completion of filming for Dhurandhar Part 2, stating it is currently in post-production. He mentioned his expanded role in the sequel compared to the first installment, expressing enthusiasm about its upcoming release.
Set against significant historical backdrops, including the IC-814 hijacking and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, Dhurandhar follows protagonist Ajay Sanyal, portrayed by R Madhavan. The storyline revolves around Sanyal’s ambitious mission against Pakistan, during which he recruits a young man named Hamza, played by Ranveer Singh, and trains him for the undertaking.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar boasts a strong ensemble cast that includes prominent names like Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun, along with Bedi. With a runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes, it stands as one of the longest Hindi films. Financially, the movie has made waves at the box office, reportedly accumulating over Rs. 13.67 crore by the end of its opening day.
In recent discussions, Aditya Dhar clarified that Dhurandhar is not intended to be a biopic of the late Major Mohit Sharma, a narrative that had circulated prior to its release. Dhar explicitly stated that should the filmmakers choose to create a biographical film about Sharma in the future, it will be done in conscious collaboration with his family.
As anticipation builds for the sequel, fans eagerly await the next developments. What are your thoughts regarding the release date of Dhurandhar Part 2?
