The Emirati Article Award is set to celebrate its inaugural winners on Monday evening (May 26) at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, coinciding with Emirati Writer’s Day.

This year’s awardees include: Al Anoud Saeed Al-Muhairi, who received the Social Article Award for her piece “Dubai Chocolate”; Dr. Badi’a Khlil Al-Hashimi, honored with the Literary Article Award for “The Identity of Man and Place in Emirati Novels”; Maryam Ali Al-Balooshi, who won the Economic Article Award for “Climate Change: Sustainability at the Core of the UAE’s Economic Agenda”; Dr. Said Hassan Ali, awarded the Political Article Award for “The UAE’s Soft Power: A New Global Concept”; and Sheikha Salim Hamad Al-Kaabi, who secured the Scientific Article Award for “Reshaping the Future.” Mona Khalifa Al-Hamoudi also took home the Intellectual Article Award for her article “The Dynamic Emirati Citizen: A Philosophy of Change Rooted in a Transforming World.”

Additionally, 15-year-old Amal Abdulaziz Mohammed was recognized as the youngest participant for the Intellectual Article category with her piece “The UAE: Where Tolerance Creates Miracles of Coexistence,” while Mahra Mohammed Al-Azizi received a similar distinction for the Scientific Article category for “A Virtual World Towards the Future.”

During the ceremony, renowned Emirati writer and journalist Ali Obaid Alhamli will be honored with the “Pioneer of Emirati Article Writing 2025” award, acknowledging his extensive career in article writing, which spans over 25 years.

As part of the event’s agenda, literary figure Abdul-Ghaffar Hussein, founder of the award, will deliver remarks on behalf of the award’s Board of Trustees, expressing gratitude to the Dubai Press Club for its support and for agreeing to organize a joint workshop aimed at enhancing article-writing skills among young community members, particularly those under 18. The initiative aims to refine their writing abilities and boost the prominence of Emirati writers both nationally and internationally, leveraging Emirati creative potential and enriching their talents with knowledge and experience.

Furthermore, Dr. Mohammed Salem Al-Mazrouei, a board member of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, will speak about the significance of article writing and the award’s role in enhancing the cultural and intellectual landscape of the nation.

The evening will also include an announcement regarding the generous financial support provided by the Khalaf Al Habtoor Group, which has pledged to cover all award categories’ expenses for the next five years, amounting to 180,000 dirhams annually, in recognition of the Emirati writer, especially the emerging generation of article writers.
