The plot of Thadayam unfolds against a backdrop inspired by real-life events, as reported by the Economic Times. These incidents took place in 1999 along the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border, centering around a series of gruesome murders occurring in a rural village at midnight. Unique to this narrative is the eerie similarity among the crime scenes, which leaves local authorities baffled, as the clues fail to lead to any specific conclusions.
The killer’s chilling modus operandi involves taking sacred symbols of marriage from the victims, escalating both suspicion and fear within the village community. As the body count rises, the introduction of a newly transferred police officer reveals a possible ritualistic pattern behind the heinous acts. The series maintains a suspenseful atmosphere, primarily unfolding at night, and gradually layers in more complexity as the investigation progresses.

Thadayam will premiere exclusively on ZEE5 on February 27, 2026.
