Filmmaker and actor Sundar C is making his political debut as a candidate for the Pudiya Neethi Katchi (PNK) in the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections. He is running in alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party. Supporting him in this new venture is his wife, Khushbu, a prominent BJP leader, who has publicly defended him against rumors that have circulated ahead of the elections.
Recently, social media was rife with claims that Sundar had promised to ban meat shops in Madurai Central if elected, citing the need to protect the sanctity of the Madurai Meenakshi Amman temple. In response, Sundar took to his social channels to clarify that these allegations were baseless, stating clearly that he respects the feelings and rights of the people. He emphasized that such rumors are tactics used by those afraid to compete fairly, committing to address these issues with unity and determination.
Khushbu also actively refuted the fake claims while blaming the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party for spreading misinformation. She remarked on social media that the DMK’s tactics reflect their fear of Sundar’s integrity and straightforwardness. Her post highlighted that the people of Madurai stand firmly with Sundar, emphasizing that attempts to undermine him through false narratives would ultimately backfire.
Turning to their political careers, Khushbu embarked on her political journey in 2010 with the DMK, later shifting to the Indian National Congress in 2014, and finally joining the BJP in 2020. She currently serves as the vice president of the Tamil Nadu BJP. Sundar C’s political role marks a significant milestone, as he participates in the elections scheduled for April 23, entering a landscape where he aims to make a considerable impact.
In the realm of cinema, Khushbu recently appeared in the 2025 Tamil film “Nesippaya” and the Hindi movie “Subedaar.” She also produced the 2025 film “Gangers,” wherein Sundar played multiple roles as director and leading actor. Aside from “Gangers,” Sundar is set to feature in “One 2 One” while directing both “Mookuthi Amman 2” and “Purushan,” which are expected to debut this year. Their combined endeavors in both politics and the film industry highlight a significant chapter ahead for the couple.
