A person was killed by an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon early yesterday morning, with Israel asserting that the individual was a member of Hezbollah. The National News Agency reported that the attack occurred on Saturday morning in the town of Deir Zaherani, resulting in the death of 33-year-old Mohammad Ali Jammoul.
According to reports, Jammoul was on his way from home, as he did every morning, to perform prayers at the local mosque when the drone targeted his vehicle. The Israeli military stated in a press release that Jammoul was eliminated because he was a commander of a missile unit within Hezbollah. They also claimed he was involved in plans to launch multiple rocket attacks against Israeli territory.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the Lebanese army announced the dismantling of an Israeli spy device that was camouflaged and equipped with a camera in the vicinity of the town of Blida in southern Lebanon. They added that they had removed 13 earthen barriers constructed by the Israeli military within the town. A statement from the Lebanese Army Command indicated that military units deployed in the southern regions are continuing their operations to survey and eliminate Israeli violations.
The statement continued that a specialized military unit discovered the enemy’s espionage device, which was camouflaged and equipped with a camera in the Be’er Sha’ib area near Blida-Merjeyoun, and proceeded to dismantle it. Coordination between the Lebanese Army leadership and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) continues to monitor the situation in the south, particularly regarding violations and assaults by the Israeli side.
