The French Minister of the Interior announced that around 200 individuals were detained during the early stages of a nationwide protest.
Although the protest movement did not succeed in its stated goal of “disrupting everything,” it began online and gained momentum over the summer, leading to widespread unrest and challenging the deployment of 80,000 police officers who dispersed barricades and made numerous arrests.
Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau reported that a bus was set on fire in the city of Rennes, and damage to an electricity line caused train services to be halted in the southwestern region. He claimed that the demonstrators were attempting to create “an atmosphere of rebellion.”
