The Google Maps application has officially adopted the term “Arab Gulf” for users in the Middle East, now displaying this name when searching for the region within the app.
This renaming coincides with President Donald Trump’s planned visit to the area next week.
U.S. officials revealed to the Associated Press that Trump aims to refer to the Gulf as the Arab Gulf in the United States during his upcoming tour of the region.
According to the agency, Google Maps in the U.S. has also recognized the Arab Gulf name for searches related to the area.
