Malavika Mohanan recently addressed rumors regarding the use of body doubles for action sequences in her film, The Raja Saab. Following the emergence of behind-the-scenes footage featuring a man as her body double, social media reactions ranged from shock to humor.
In a bid to clarify the situation, Malavika took to her X account. She emphasized her enthusiasm for action stunts, confirming that although she enjoys performing them, a stunt double is present during filming for safety reasons. She expressed her delight in sharing behind-the-scenes clips and wrote about a circulating photo of her stunt double.
Malavika elaborated on the role of stunt doubles during production. They not only assist in rehearsals but also handle shots deemed too risky for actors. She explained that the action director relies on their expertise to ensure that stunts are executed safely. This collaboration allows actors to focus on their performances while professionals manage the technical aspects of stunts.
Concluding her message, she shared BTS footage of herself executing some thrilling shots, acknowledging her stunt double’s guidance throughout the process.
The Raja Saab, released in theaters on January 9, garnered a mixed reception. The film has grossed ₹205 crore worldwide against a production budget of ₹400 crore. Its production timeline extended over several years, with filming commencing in 2022 and concluding in early 2025.
