Heightened Security Alert in Britain Following Mass Stabbing on Train Towards London

The British Transport Police reported that ten individuals sustained injuries, with nine of them in critical condition, following a mass stabbing incident that occurred on Saturday evening aboard a train heading toward London in the east of the country.

In a statement shared on social media, the police classified the event as a “major incident”. They indicated that the counter-terrorism unit is involved in the investigation to ascertain the circumstances and motivations behind the attack.

According to the statement, all injured individuals have been transported to hospitals for treatment, but the police have not yet disclosed the assailants’ motives or provided further details regarding the nature of the injuries.

The attack took place while the train was traveling south toward the town of Huntingdon, located northwest of Cambridge. Armed police and emergency services, including air ambulances, responded swiftly when the train halted at the station. Authorities were able to manage the situation promptly upon their arrival.

Cambridgeshire Police stated that their officers reached the station at 7:39 PM local time and have arrested two individuals in connection with the incident, noting that investigations are still ongoing.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his deep sympathy for the victims and their families, describing the incident as a “horrific event” that has shaken the British community.
