A recent study conducted by the University of New South Wales has revealed that humpback whales are giving birth in much farther southern regions than previously believed. Births have been documented as far as Tasmania and southern New Zealand, over 1,500 kilometers away from the previously assumed breeding grounds in tropical waters.
