The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has announced that the agency is closely monitoring the “alarming situation” in Iran following a series of airstrikes by Israel early on Friday, which primarily targeted the Natanz nuclear facility located in central Iran.
In a post on social media platform X, Grossi stated, “The IAEA is paying close attention to the highly concerning situation in Iran. The agency confirms that the Natanz site is among those targeted.” He also mentioned that the agency is in contact with Iranian authorities regarding radiation levels and is communicating with its inspectors in the country.
