The education department in the Jammu region of northern India has announced that all public and private schools will remain closed tomorrow, Monday, due to ongoing heavy rainfall and landslides affecting the mountainous areas in the region.
Schools in the area had previously been closed last week as a precautionary measure in response to weather warnings, as reported by the Press Trust of India.
In an official statement, the Director of the Education Department, Naseem Javed Choudhary, mentioned: “Considering the continuous rainfall and landslides in the mountainous regions, and to ensure the safety of students and educational staff, it has been decided that all public and private schools in Jammu will remain closed on September 1, 2025 (Monday).”
