Injuries Reported from Unknown Explosion in Northwest Syria

Initial reports from Syria indicate that there are casualties following an explosion in the Idlib countryside, though the cause of the blast is still unknown and it remains unclear if it was a targeted attack.

The explosion, whose origin has yet to be determined, was heard around the city of Idlib in northwestern Syria, with preliminary reports of injuries according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

Meanwhile, “Syrian TV” reported that the explosion occurred in munitions warehouses located near the city of Idlib, with warnings issued for individuals to remain at a safe distance from the area. The site reportedly experienced a series of consecutive explosions that are believed to be linked to the munitions detonation.

Footage from the television station captured the thick clouds of smoke rising into the sky as a result of the explosions in the arms depots in Idlib.

The Syrian Civil Defense confirmed that there were injuries resulting from the explosion, noting that their teams were dispatched to the scene. Activists have also shared reports about individuals potentially trapped under the rubble of the destroyed building.

This event follows a previous incident on July 24, when seven individuals lost their lives and over 100 were injured due to an explosion at a munitions depot near the town of Maarrat Misrin in the Idlib region.
