As part of the Arab Media Summit 2025, which is set to commence under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Media Council, on May 26, the Dubai Media Council will organize a series of discussion sessions, training workshops, and varied dialogues over the three-day event.
Nehal Badri, the Secretary-General of Dubai Media Council, stated, “With a significant media presence at this largest event of its kind in the Arab world, the summit provides an ideal opportunity for key players across diverse media sectors to exchange ideas, opinions, and perspectives on new media trends and ways to enhance its excellence. We are committed to fostering constructive dialogue that supports our objectives for the future of the media sector.”
She further remarked, “The film and video game industries in the UAE and the Arab world will be key focus areas on the agenda of Dubai Media Council throughout the summit. The discussion paths have been designed to be comprehensive and in line with the Council’s direction, particularly with the establishment of the Dubai Film and Video Game Office, which we aim to develop into a leading force for this crucial sector through strategic partnerships with local talents and global production firms, as well as key developers worldwide.”
Maryam Al Mulla, Acting Director of the Dubai Press Club, highlighted that the participation of Dubai Media Council this year represents a significant addition to the Arab Media Summit, featuring a packed agenda that hosts a selection of experts and influential figures in shaping Arab media, focusing on its future sectors. This aligns with the summit’s aim to explore avenues for developing Arab media and discovering ways to achieve the highest levels of distinction within a comprehensive developmental vision for the media sector.
In connection with the Dubai Media Pioneers Initiative, launched by Dubai Media Council to honor media icons who laid the foundations of the media sector in Dubai and contributed to the emirate’s media landscape through years of dedicated service, the Council will host several of Dubai’s media pioneers during the Arab Media Summit to share their experiences and journeys in the media industry, including His Highness Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media Foundation.
The sessions organized by Dubai Media Council will cover a wide array of topics related to the future of media work, concentrating on vital areas such as the gaming sector, which is rapidly growing both regionally and globally. Discussions will address how to benefit from this growth as a new contributor to the knowledge-based economy and explore opportunities for collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve qualitative advancements in developing this sector and ensuring its prosperity.
Hisham Al Olama, Director of Strategy and Performance Management at Dubai Media Council, explained that film and television production will be another central topic in the discussions facilitated by the Council through various dialogue sessions and workshops. Emphasis will be placed on the future of Emirati cinema and the actions required to establish a competitive film industry capable of producing local films that meet global standards. The Council will also address, alongside a group of specialists, the future of drama and television production, as well as the film industry, focusing on the requirements for producing films that can compete in international festivals and competitions.
Additionally, among the other topics that Dubai Media Council will explore during the Arab Media Summit are the future perspectives on the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing media industry capabilities. Discussions will also contemplate how to create media that serves both as a means of entertainment and education while generating revenue to support the economy. Moreover, the dialogues will focus on revitalizing the media’s role as a bridge connecting cultures.
The Arab Media Summit, organized by the Dubai Press Club from May 26 to 28, will bring together prominent political figures, intellectual leaders, notable writers, editors, and media personalities from the Arab world, with participation from approximately 6,000 stakeholders in the media sector. The summit encompasses the Arab Media Forum, the Arab Youth Media Forum, as well as the Arab Media Awards and the Creativity Award for Arab Youth, along with the Arab Social Media Influencers Summit and Award.
It is noteworthy that the Arab Media Summit has over the years seen a gathering of significant political figures, decision-makers, and intellectual leaders in the Arab world, in addition to key media personalities and leaders across various media channels, aiming to address the foremost challenges facing the sector in the Arab world, ways to overcome them, and emphasizing its positive contributions to society, as well as exploring opportunities to enhance Arab media and improve its content to meet the needs and aspirations of the Arab audience, while celebrating excellence in the media field across its various avenues.
