Iran Prepared to Resume Negotiations as Trump Denies Discussing Nuclear Assistance

Dr. Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the UAE’s President, emphasized the need for Iran to rebuild trust with its Gulf neighbors following the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty. Meanwhile, while Tehran has expressed its willingness to resume negotiations with Washington, U.S. President Donald Trump has denied any discussions regarding assistance to Iran in developing a peaceful nuclear program.

Dr. Anwar Gargash

In a post on his official account on X, Dr. Gargash noted yesterday: “Gulf nations have taken a strong and impactful stance against the Israeli aggression towards Iran, advocating at all international forums for de-escalation and calling for political solutions to ongoing issues, particularly the nuclear file.

Nevertheless, the Iranian targeting of our brotherly nation, Qatar, affects us all.”

He concluded his statement by asserting: “As we turn the page on conflict, Tehran must work to restore trust with its Gulf surroundings, which has been damaged as a result of this aggression.”

Iranian Statements

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araqchi, stated that Iran is fundamentally ready to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States.

Araqchi posted on X, saying: “If President Trump is sincere in his desire for an agreement, he must set aside the disrespectful and unacceptable tone toward Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.”

He added, “Iranians have sacrificed blood, not land. They have withstood a barrage of bombs weighing thousands of tons, yet they have not surrendered. Iran does not know the word ‘surrender.’

Additionally, Iranian Interior Minister Iskander Momeni asserted that the United States and Israel have demonstrated their lack of commitment to any promises.

During a funeral for victims of Israeli attacks, Momeni stated that all officials and armed forces in the country are on high alert and prepared to respond with strength.

U.S. Denial

In a related development, President Trump refuted reports claiming that his administration considered aiding Iran with up to $30 billion for a civilian nuclear program.

Trump wrote on Truth Social: “Who is the liar in the fake news media saying that President Trump wants to give Iran $30 billion to build non-military nuclear facilities? I’ve never heard of such a ridiculous idea, calling the reports a hoax.”

Trump emphasized that he would order more strikes against Iran if it were found capable of enriching uranium for military use.

War Powers

Furthermore, the U.S. Senate rejected a Democratic attempt to limit Trump’s ability to use military force against Iran.

The vote concluded with 53 in favor and 47 against a measure concerning war powers, requiring congressional approval for any further military operations against Iran.

The voting pattern was largely along party lines, except Democratic Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania voted against the measure alongside Republicans, whereas Republican Rand Paul from Kentucky supported it with the Democrats.

In a related context, the United States informed the United Nations Security Council in a letter that the purpose of recent airstrikes on Iran was to destroy its ability to enrich uranium and mitigate the threat of acquiring nuclear weapons.

Dorothy Shea, the U.S. Acting Ambassador to the UN, wrote: “The United States remains committed to seeking an agreement with the Iranian government.”

Normal Radiation Levels

In this context, the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that radiation levels in the Gulf region remain within normal limits following military strikes targeting nuclear facilities in Iran.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated in a release that regional radiation data received by the agency through its International Monitoring System (IRMIS) indicates no significant radiation leaks were detected, as this network involves 48 countries. He noted that the current assessment by the agency, based on information from Iran’s nuclear regulatory authority, suggests that the strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities caused limited radiation leaks within the targeted sites, with some localized toxic effects, without any recorded increase in radiation levels outside these locations.
