On Friday, the Israeli military announced the interception of a missile launched from Yemen, an attack not claimed by the Houthis.
In a brief statement shared on Telegram, the Israeli army reported, “Following the activation of air raid sirens in several areas of Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted.”
The military clarified that the missile was successfully thwarted before it could enter Israeli airspace.
Since the conflict between Israel and Hamas escalated following an unprecedented assault by the Palestinian group on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, the Houthis have carried out numerous missile attacks against Israel and vessels in the Red Sea, which they allege are associated with the country.
Houthi territories in Yemen are targeted by near-daily airstrikes, which they blame on the United States, following Washington’s announcement on March 15 to initiate military operations aimed at halting their assaults on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
