His work includes notable titles such as Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, Meleparambil Aanveedu, and Kaduva. Recently, the 79-year-old actor made headlines by discussing a personal aspect of his life: an extramarital affair he had 18 years ago, which he revealed was known to his wife.
In a candid interview with Vanitha magazine, Janardhanan reflected on the circumstances surrounding his affair. He admitted that while his wife did not approve of the situation, she comprehended the emotional complexities involved. He stated, “I had a relationship with a woman outside my marriage eighteen years ago. Most of the decisions in my life have been right, but this one was wrong. My wife knew about it…her best quality was that she always understood me, no matter the situation.”
Addressing the motivations behind his actions, Janardhanan explained that a lack of intimacy within his marriage led him to seek companionship outside. He described how the affair started as a temptation, eventually leading him to provide for the other woman’s needs. “This was the time when my wife said that she was not interested in any sort of physical intimacy in our marriage,” he noted. “But I was able to look after this new partner for many years.”
The actor labeled the affair as a “black mark” on his life during the same interview. He recounted a recent phone call he received from the woman involved, expressing confusion over his affectionate remarks about his wife. “That is the only black mark in my whole life,” he declared, emphasizing the societal pressures that contributed to the end of their relationship. According to Janardhanan, the woman distanced herself after her son grew older due to worries about public perception.
