Japan has reported a new national temperature record, reaching 41.8 degrees Celsius in the city of Isesaki, located in Gunma Prefecture, surpassing the previous high of 41.2 degrees.
Initially, the Japan Meteorological Agency announced a record temperature of 41.6 degrees Celsius in the same city in eastern Japan, before later updating it with an even higher reading.
According to Kyodo News, local authorities have advised residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses, emphasizing the importance of proper air conditioning use and staying hydrated.
It is notable that temperature levels in Japan have continued to rise in recent years, with the five-year period from 2019 to 2023 being the hottest on record.
