Jumana Al-Zaabi: A Student Voice Against Bullying

Determined to combat bullying in schools after experiencing its negative effects on herself and her brother, student Jumana Mohammed Saeed Al Zaabi has transformed her struggles into a powerful advocacy campaign. Since 2021, she has initiated various awareness programs as a ninth-grade student at Al Shafa Bint Abdullah School in Kalba.

Over the span of five years, Jumana has been involved in numerous outreach efforts, totaling more than 35 personal initiatives, reaching audiences across the country through her Telegram channel.

In 2022, she was honored with an award for outstanding participation from the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood for her efforts in preventing school bullying. Jumana feels a strong sense of community responsibility to devote her time and energy to initiatives that help raise awareness about the nature of bullying and how to cope with it.

She created a Telegram channel to promote awareness and organized a workshop titled “Student as a Speaker,” which included parents and fellow students, aimed at all community members in the pursuit of eradicating bullying completely.

Jumana has launched many initiatives, prominently including “Together Against Cyberbullying,” “Stand Up to Bullying,” “Facing Bullying with Love,” “I Commit to Peace,” “Hand in Hand Against Bullying,” “Be My Friend,” “Be Kind,” and “No to Bullying, Yes to Forgiveness.”

Additionally, she held a nationwide competition titled “Stop! No to Bullying,” and developed an online guide “How to Protect Myself from Bullying” for schools and communities, along with an electronic magazine titled “No to Bullying.”

Moreover, she facilitated the “Student as a Speaker” workshop addressing bullying at Al Shahid 1 School for Girls, collaborating with the Emirati Muwalif Volunteer Association and executing other initiatives.
