Prabhas’ New Movie Release: Everything You Need to Know About Its Sequel

Prabhas’ latest release, The Raja Saab, has finally hit theatres worldwide on January 9, 2026. This pan-India horror-comedy has received mixed reviews, with many praising Prabhas’ performance. Directed by Maruthi, the film marks a notable departure from Prabhas’ usual roles, incorporating elements of fantasy and horror that have excited fans eager to see him in a more lighthearted take. Amid all the anticipation, we delve into details about its OTT release and the confirmed sequel.

The Raja Saab is a Telugu-language film featuring Prabhas in dual roles. He portrays ‘Raju’, a young man living with his grandmother, ‘Gangamma’, played by Zarina Wahab, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. Raju, characterized by his rebellious spirit and sharp comedic timing, is set to embark on an adventure that reveals family secrets and long-lost connections. His storyline includes not only the quest for his missing grandfather, ‘Kanakaraju’ (Sanjay Dutt), but also intertwined elements of romance and supernatural encounters.

The plot thickens as Raju discovers that Kanakaraju is alive and residing in Hyderabad. His journey takes him to an ancient mansion in the Narsapur forest, where he learns that his grandfather has transformed into a malevolent ghost. Raju’s mission becomes twofold: to restore his grandmother’s happiness while battling the dark forces set in motion by Kanakaraju, who seeks rebirth through sinister means. As Raju navigates these challenges, he encounters love interests in ‘Anitha’ (Riddhi Kumar) and ‘Besse’ (Nidhhi Agerwal), adding layers to the film’s emotional depth.

Looking ahead, The Raja Saab is set to transition to digital streaming. As per reports from OTTPlay, its rights have been acquired by JioHotstar and will be available in various languages including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Typically, films make their OTT debut about two months after their theatrical release; thus, fans can expect it to start streaming by late February 2026. However, official confirmation from the production team has yet to be announced.

Exciting news has also emerged about a sequel. Titled The Raja Saab 2: Circus 1935, it was officially confirmed following the film’s release. Director Maruthi has indicated that this new installment will not be a direct continuation of the original story but will present an entirely different narrative set within the horror universe established previously. While Prabhas may don a new look reminiscent of a Joker character, specific details regarding the production timeline or release date remain unannounced. Some footage from the first film is expected to be repurposed for the sequel, promising to expand on the intriguing themes introduced earlier.

As anticipation builds, many fans are eager to experience the full extent of The Raja Saab and its future endeavors. What are your thoughts on this film? Are you looking forward to its availability online and the upcoming sequel?
