Drishyam 3 has recently captured attention following the exit of Akshaye Khanna from the film just before production was set to commence. The announcement of Khanna’s departure has been confirmed by producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, who specified that Jaideep Ahlawat will take his place in the project.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Pathak explained that disagreements concerning Khanna’s remuneration and his character’s look led to his departure from the film. Despite the setback, Pathak expressed confidence in Ahlawat as a strong replacement, highlighting his talents both as an actor and as a person. He noted their previous collaboration on Aakrosh, citing it as a testament to Ahlawat’s capabilities.
The Drishyam franchise, featuring Ajay Devgn in a pivotal role, focuses on a father’s desperate efforts to protect his family from the repercussions of a murder. The previous installments have included a notable cast, including Shriya Saran and Tabu. While the principal cast is slated to return for Drishyam 3, Khanna, who appeared as a senior police officer in Drishyam 2, will not reprise his role. Pathak indicated that Khanna’s recent film success may have influenced his expectations for a higher salary.
Additionally, Pathak has announced plans for legal action against Khanna, claiming his exit has resulted in financial losses. He has already filed a legal notice, awaiting a response from the actor. This development adds a layer of complexity to the film’s production, which is now officially underway.
Drishyam 3, directed by Abhishek Pathak, is currently in the filming phase, with a confirmed release date set for October 2, 2026. The team recently promoted the film through a teaser video, fueling anticipation among fans of the franchise.
