A presidential decree issued yesterday confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has relieved Dmitry Kozak from his position as Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.
The one-sentence decree did not provide any reasons for this decision.
Earlier, a statement from the Kremlin had indicated that Kozak, a key figure in Putin’s administration, had submitted his resignation.
According to RBC news agency, Kozak has sent a resignation letter and is exploring various opportunities in the business sector.
In response to inquiries about this report, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated, “I can confirm that Dmitry Nikolayevich Kozak has resigned at his own request.”
Kozak has been working with Putin since the 1990s when they were both involved in the administration of St. Petersburg, Russia’s second-largest city.
He played a significant role in overseeing the organization of the 2014 Winter Olympics held in Sochi.
