The Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated during a press conference on Tuesday that Qatar’s mediation efforts are integral to its identity, and nothing will deter the nation from fulfilling this role. This announcement came shortly after an Israeli assault targeting Hamas leaders in Doha.
He indicated that U.S. officials notified Qatar of the Israeli strike just ten minutes after it commenced, labeling the operation as “treacherous.”
The Prime Minister asserted that Qatar “reserves the right to respond” to the Israeli attack that targeted a meeting of Hamas leaders in Doha, which resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including a member of Qatari security.
Speaking at the press briefing, which he conducted in his capacity as both Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, he emphasized that Qatar will not tolerate encroachments on its sovereignty or territorial integrity.
He added that the country has assembled a legal team to pursue all necessary legal actions in response to the unlawful Israeli behavior.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister conveyed that Qatar will take a firm stance against any reckless violations or attacks on its security that threaten the region’s stability, and it maintains the right to retaliate against this blatant aggression. He noted that “we have reached a critical moment” in the Middle East.
