Revealing Salaries of ‘Border’ 1997 Star Cast: Sunny Deol Tops the Chart

Sunny Deol is making a much-anticipated return with the upcoming release of Border 2. Following the success of the trailer launch, fans have expressed excitement about his role. The memories and patriotic themes from the iconic 1997 film Border continue to resonate with audiences, making it an enduring classic in Indian cinema.

The original Border, directed by J.P. Dutta, narrates the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. It features an impressive ensemble cast, including Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, and Pooja Bhatt, and serves as a tribute to the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers. This film frequently airs on Indian television during national holidays, underscoring its cultural significance.

In discussing the cast’s compensation for their roles in the 1997 film, it’s noted that Sunny Deol earned the highest fee at Rs. 1.2 crore for his lead performance. Jackie Shroff, who also received praise for his character, was compensated with Rs. 11 lakh, while Tabu earned Rs. 20 lakh. Akshaye Khanna, whose role marked an important point in his career, was paid Rs. 14 lakh.

Other cast members received varying amounts; Pooja Bhatt was paid Rs. 1 lakh, whereas Suneil Shetty got Rs. 6 lakh. Puneet Issar’s fee was Rs. 10 lakh, and Sudesh Berry received Rs. 4 lakh. Kulbhushan Kharbanda earned Rs. 6 lakh, while Rakhi Gulzar was paid Rs. 70,000. These figures reflect the film’s high-profile production and the star power involved.

The film is also memorable for its powerful music, featuring songs like Sandese Aate Hai and Mere Dushman Mere Bhai, which continue to evoke strong emotions and national pride. The cinematography by Iswar R. Bidri and Nirmal Jani beautifully captures the stark beauty of the Rajasthan desert while conveying the complexities of war.
