By achieving the rank of Brigadier, Samira Abdullah Al Ali has become the first woman in the history of Dubai Police to reach this position since the establishment of the force in 1956. She has been part of Dubai Police for 31 years and boasts a remarkable record of achievements.
Brigadier Samira Al Ali stated, “This promotion is a source of pride for every woman serving in Dubai Police, which is committed to providing women the opportunity to occupy senior positions and contribute to the nation’s service. This promotion also brings with it significant responsibility, and I hope to live up to the expectations and trust placed in me.”
Beginning of the Journey
Brigadier Al Ali joined Dubai Police in October 1994 after enrolling in a training program through the Dubai Police Academy. She graduated from the University of the Emirates in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in insurance.
She recounted, “One day I saw an announcement in the newspaper regarding a training program for women at the Dubai Police Academy, and I decided to give it a try. During the program, I met retired General Jassim Al Rumaithah, who learned about my specialization in insurance and my prior work at an insurance company. He encouraged me to join the insurance department at Dubai Police.”
In the year following her employment in the General Department of Transport and Rescue, the office transitioned into a specialized department. Over the years, by 2000, this department evolved into a branch management structure with three main sections focused on all insurance aspects related to Dubai Police’s assets and properties, including live assets.
Awards and Professional Distinction
Al Ali has earned numerous individual and collective awards, including the “Outstanding Employee” award for 2022 at the Emirates Women’s Award, presented by the Dubai Quality Group.
Moreover, her leadership of the “Safe Driving Stars” initiative, launched by Dubai Police to reduce traffic accidents among police drivers, earned her a seven-star award from the Center for Organizational Excellence Research (COER) in New Zealand. Additionally, she received the General Commander’s Excellence Award in the category of Best Administrative Team for the “Sand” project and was recognized with a seven-star rating at Dubai Police for the “Awareness Guarantee” knowledge project, which aims to educate employees on insurance matters, among other honors.
Memberships and Committees
Brigadier Al Ali is actively involved in committees supporting women’s empowerment, serving as the head of the “Dana Women” committee in the General Department of Transport and Rescue since 2017. Outside of Dubai Police, she is also the Deputy Head of the Continuous Improvement Team at the Dubai Quality Group and is a member of the National Occupational Injury Record Committee.
19 Intellectual Classifications
Brigadier Al Ali possesses 19 intellectual classifications in her professional record, along with a professional program for patrol officers and their assistants. She is an accredited lecturer within Dubai Police, having delivered numerous lectures on insurance as well as awareness sessions.
She has participated in 163 courses and conferences and led 16 workshops and training sessions related to insurance, providing consultations that have benefited over 21,000 individuals, alongside proposing 225 developmental suggestions within Dubai Police.
Moreover, she has contributed to 65 working teams and throughout her career at Dubai Police has received 392 badges, medals, and certificates of appreciation. She also holds a master’s degree in business administration and a diploma in information technology.
Brigadier Al Ali emphasizes the importance of balancing her professional and family life. She is a mother to a son who is an engineer in chemical engineering, and she works to motivate her team of 22 employees, including three women, to perform their duties and overcome challenges.
