The Sharjah Quranic Forum organized an international scientific seminar today under the title “The Quranic Word: Between Documented Reality and Desired Investigation,” in collaboration with Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities, Sharjah University, and Al Qasimia University. The event brought together over 10 scholars, researchers, and experts in Arabic language, Islamic sciences, interpretation, and manuscripts from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. The seminar aimed to exchange expertise and foster a renewed academic dialogue for researchers to advance studies in interpretation and concepts needing modernization.
Throughout the two-day seminar, discussions centered around modern Quranic encyclopedias, focusing on the concept of the Quranic word, its miraculous nature, and its impact on contemporary studies and documentation trends, while motivating efforts to fulfill a forward-looking vision for the Quranic word.
Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Forum, reaffirmed that the organization continues its dedication to scientific studies and research, particularly in rhetorical interpretation and the science of Tafsir, which serve as essential tools for appreciating the verses of the Holy Quran. He noted that the Forum is committed to excelling in this field and sharing these efforts with the world. These achievements reflect the contributions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to the service of the Quran and its sciences, as well as his dedication to preserving its historical, scientific, and intellectual legacy, which facilitates its memorization, learning, and dissemination.
Moreover, Professor Dr. Qutb Al-Raisuni, Dean of the Sharia College at Sharjah University, stated that the most effective approach to understanding the Quran involves elucidating its vocabulary within their specific contexts and meanings. He emphasized that such an investigation should take precedence in the priorities of interpretation, receiving attention beyond other matters, as words carry meanings, and the understanding of the whole is contingent on comprehending its parts. If the Quranic word is neglected or misapplied, the interpreter risks deviating significantly from the intended understanding.
At the conclusion of the opening ceremony, Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji honored the speakers and participants for their contributions.
