Shanaya Kapoor Opens Up About Her Heartbreak and Betrayal

Shanaya Kapoor is making headlines with her latest film, Tu Yaa Main, which premiered on February 13, 2026. The survival thriller features Adarsh Gourav alongside her, with Shanaya portraying the character ‘Miss Vanity’, also known as ‘Avani’. Recently, she opened up about a personal experience that has significantly impacted her life.

In a recent episode of the podcast Relationshit Advice, Shanaya discussed a painful past relationship where she was betrayed. She initially believed she was in a perfect relationship until one dinner date shattered that illusion. Using her boyfriend’s phone, she stumbled upon messages revealing he was communicating with five other women. Shanaya described the shocking moment:

“I was thinking, ‘This is it. It’s too good to be true. What a life, wow. This is the best relationship.’ The second girl popped up, the third girl, the fourth, the fifth. There were five girls he was messaging.”

The first notification she encountered was from his ex-girlfriend, which sparked her curiosity to delve deeper. Upon discovering a flurry of messages, she felt it was highly inappropriate since he was concealing his interactions and portraying himself as single. In the wake of this betrayal, she sought advice from friends, including actress Ananya Panday.

Explaining her reaction to the situation, Shanaya recalled how, instead of immediately escaping to support from Ananya, she needed time to process the shock. She sent screenshots of the conversations to her friends through Snapchat. Ananya encouraged her to come over, but Shanaya felt overwhelmed and unable to act so quickly. She shared,

“My friend, Ananya, was like, ‘Catch a train and just come here. We were pretty close by.’ I was like, ‘I can’t just catch a f***** train, what do I do?’ This whole dinner, I’m pretending like everything’s okay.”

As the conversation unfolded, Shanaya revealed that, rather than confront her, her boyfriend attempted to downplay the situation. He presented her with a pair of expensive earrings, which she now refers to as ‘guilty earrings’, in an attempt to assure her everything was fine. When confronted about the messages, he dismissed the seriousness of his actions, insisting, “What’s the big deal? This is just messaging; it was nothing physical.”

Ultimately, Shanaya categorized his actions as emotional cheating and chose to end the relationship. She reflected on her mixed emotions regarding the earrings, explaining that while they initially troubled her, she still wears them today, stating:

“I went mental, but I still have the earrings. I still wear them… I’ve earned those earrings. Those are my earrings.”

Shanaya’s candid sharing raises questions about the complexities of relationships and the impact of betrayal. What are your thoughts on her revelation?
