Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding Between the UAE Agency for International Aid and the Aden Governor to Construct a Hospital

A memorandum of understanding was signed by Sultan Mohammed Al-Shamsi, the Deputy Head of the UAE’s International Aid Agency, and Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, the Governor of Aden, representing Yemen.

The memorandum outlines plans for establishing a hospital in Aden, which will include various outpatient clinics and treatment departments such as emergency services, sterilization, radiology, laboratories, pharmacies, and intensive care units, as well as patient wards for men, women, and children.

In this context, Sultan Mohammed Al-Shamsi emphasized the UAE’s prominent global role in enhancing healthcare services across various nations. This initiative aligns with the country’s civic and humanitarian mission aimed at developing and enriching societies, reflecting the lasting humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as well as his noble values. It also follows directives from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, to improve living conditions and provide essential medical needs for the Yemeni population in Aden and other cities.

Al-Shamsi pointed out the UAE’s continued commitment to strengthening the global healthcare sector, noting that the UAE’s International Aid Agency collaborates with different governments, international organizations, and relevant institutions to enhance living conditions for all community groups by providing essential health services and various forms of humanitarian and developmental assistance, in line with the general external aid policy.

He explained that the UAE will persist in its humanitarian initiatives and developmental projects targeting the Yemeni people, ensuring access to necessary medical services for all demographics, including men, women, and children, while also building and sustainably enhancing the capacities of Yemen’s healthcare system. This effort aligns with sustainable development goals, particularly concerning good health and enhancing local capabilities for efficiently delivering high-quality healthcare services.

For his part, Governor Ahmed Hamed Lamlas expressed his gratitude to the UAE’s leadership, government, and people for their unwavering support for Yemen in all circumstances. He acknowledged the UAE’s ongoing assistance across various sectors, including health, education, and infrastructure, and highlighted the significance of constructing this hospital in Aden for the healthcare services it will provide.
