The UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, is set to urge allies to provide Ukraine with additional long-range weaponry to bolster its defenses against Russia.
Starmer will host leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in London to discuss strategies for increasing pressure on Moscow and strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, as reported by British media.
Measures under consideration include intensified efforts to cripple the Russian economy that backs President Vladimir Putin’s wartime activities, particularly by removing Russian oil and gas from the global market and exploring ways to utilize frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine’s defense.
Zelensky, along with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, will be present in London, while around 20 other leaders will participate remotely in the “Coalition of the Willing” meeting. This initiative is led by Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.
This “Coalition of the Willing” meeting follows President Donald Trump’s announcement to cancel plans for talks with Putin and impose sanctions on Russia’s two largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil.
