His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the closing ceremony of the Fourth International Forum for Arabic Teachers, which was held under the theme “Building and Elevating.” The event took place from October 4 to 6 and was organized by the Sharjah Private Education Authority in collaboration with the Sharjah Education Academy at the Sharjah Higher Education and Scientific Research Council building in the university city.
During the event, His Highness reviewed the details of the fourth edition of the forum through a presentation delivered by Wafaa Al Hammadi. The forum featured participation from 264 speakers representing 23 countries, along with 46 national, regional, and international institutions, showcasing a variety of experiences and expertise in teaching Arabic to both native and non-native speakers.
His Highness also honored the sponsors and strategic partners of the forum, which received support from the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, hosting several academics to participate in the scientific sessions.
Memoranda of Understanding
Additionally, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah witnessed the signing of three memoranda of understanding aimed at supporting the educational system, enhancing teaching staff, and improving the quality of education at the Sharjah Higher Education and Scientific Research Council building in the university city.
The first memorandum of understanding was signed between the Sharjah Education Academy, represented by Dr. Muhaditha Yahya Al Hashimi, the academy’s president, and Sharjah Media City “Shams,” represented by Rashid Abdullah Al Owaid, the city’s director general. This agreement seeks to support the emirate’s aspirations to build an advanced educational system.
The second memorandum was established between the Sharjah Private Education Authority, represented by Ali Ahmed Al Hosani, the authority’s director general, and the Zayed Center for Arabic Language Research at Zayed University, represented by Dr. Michael Allen, the acting university president. This collaboration aims to leverage both parties’ expertise across various fields to support and advance the educational sector.
The third memorandum was created between the Sharjah Private Education Authority, again represented by Ali Ahmed Al Hosani, and Arabic Scale, represented by Aisha Hassan Al Yammahi, a board member of the company. This agreement aims to establish the “Dhad Metric” as a standardized tool for assessing reading proficiency in Arabic.
