His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, has reaffirmed the commitment to enhance the university’s global presence among other prestigious institutions. This effort spans various academic and scientific fields, contributing to its reputation as one of the top higher education establishments both locally and internationally.
This statement was made on the occasion of the University of Sharjah’s achievement as the first institution in the Middle East to receive the Platinum classification under the STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System) by AASHE, scoring 100% in sustainable education and research. This outstanding performance highlights the university’s dedication to sustainability in its operations and planning, as well as its role in cultivating an environmentally conscious generation. This aligns with the sustainability goals of the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Sharjah, focusing on achieving carbon neutrality through education, innovative research, and effective management.
Only 15 universities worldwide have earned the Platinum rating, including 8 from the United States and 6 from Canada, alongside the University of Sharjah.
The President of the University of Sharjah congratulated the Board of Trustees, university management, faculty, staff, and students for this significant milestone, which adds to the impressive array of accomplishments achieved over the years. This success is attributed to the strategic vision and carefully crafted approach of the university, along with the relentless efforts of its community to create supportive environments for students as a core focus of the educational process.
