Superman of Egypt: Uncle Tarek Miraculously Saves a Child from Death

A surveillance camera captured a remarkable moment in which an Egyptian level crossing worker saved a young man’s life just moments before he could have been struck by a train in Beni Suef.

The daring act displayed by Tarek Mohamed garnered widespread admiration, with many praising his bravery and labeling him as “Egypt’s Superman.”

Tarek Mohamed, who works at the Sadat Bridge level crossing in Beni Suef, stated, “I didn’t think about myself; my body instinctively moved to save the young man.”

Tarek explained that he and his colleagues take turns monitoring the level crossing, treating each passing train as a critical situation, as any neglect could result in a tragedy. “People might see our job as simple, but it’s actually about ensuring everyone’s safety. I constantly use the whistle to alert anyone near the tracks to stay back until the train has passed,” he noted.

“On the day of the incident, I was standing as usual, hearing the train approaching. I began blowing my whistle and warning the nearby people, but I saw a young man determined to cross quickly as if he were racing against death. I kept sounding the alarm, but he didn’t respond and continued walking.”

“At that moment, I felt that a single second could mean the difference between life and death. I didn’t think, I just acted; my body moved before I could even process it, and I ran toward him, pulling him forcefully away from the tracks as the train was just moments away,” Tarek recounted.

Tarek added, “Even if I had been hit, I would still feel grateful that I could save him. What I did is simply my duty, not an act of heroism. What matters most is that everyone understands the seriousness of level crossings; it’s not a game or an adventure—it can lead to certain death.”

Superman

A user on a social media platform commented, “A historic rescue by a level crossing worker in Beni Suef just before the train could have hit the young man.”

“He risked his life to save that young man; may God reward him for his good deeds,” another user added.

Further comments included, “This man is truly remarkable. ‘And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.’ This was clearly God’s intervention, as some people struggle to react in such situations. It seems the young man was simply trying to cross quickly, and Tarek’s actions were the right call because otherwise, he wouldn’t have made it,” while others referred to him as a “legend” and “Egypt’s Superman.”
