The Bombay High Court has granted a significant legal victory to actress Shilpa Shetty by ordering the removal of AI-generated morphed images and videos that misused her personality rights. Described by the court as “extremely disturbing and shocking,” these images were deemed a violation of her privacy and dignity.
In her plea, Shetty claimed that these manipulated representations were created without her consent, using AI tools that cloned her voice and mannerisms. Justice Advait Sethna presided over the case and highlighted the disturbing nature of the content, affirming that no individual, especially a woman, should be depicted in a way that infringes upon her fundamental right to privacy.
The court’s order mandated that all URLs containing the objectionable images be deleted from social media and other websites. The judges emphasized that such portrayals could irreparably harm Shetty’s reputation and public image, reinforcing the need for justice in protecting personal rights against unauthorized exploitation.
Beyond her legal battle, Shilpa Shetty remains active in her acting career. Recently, she starred in the 2023 film “Sukhee,” which did not achieve commercial success. Looking forward, she is set to appear in the upcoming Kannada film “KD: The Devil,” slated for release in 2026, which features a notable cast including Sanjay Dutt and Dhruva Sarja.
