During a meeting in Malaysia on Saturday, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated that the United States and China have reached an agreement on the importance of establishing military communication channels between the two nations. This initiative aims to mitigate conflicts and prevent the escalation of potential issues in the future.
Following discussions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, Austin expressed in a post on social media that his encounter with Chinese Defense Minister General Li Shangfu in Malaysia was also productive.
Austin further mentioned that U.S. and Chinese officials will hold additional meetings to advance the establishment of these communication channels.
