Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and CEO of “Frontier 25” and “The Climate Tribe,” has announced a strategic shift for the “Independent Climate Accelerators of the UAE” – a nonprofit founded in Abu Dhabi in 2022 – to become “Frontier 25,” a consultancy focused on climate action. This move marks a natural evolution in the organization’s journey towards accelerating climate initiatives and fostering sustainability solutions with a more focused and urgent vision to achieve tangible impact.
This announcement was made during the forum titled “From Ideas to Impact,” which brought together 250 representatives from government agencies, business leaders, experts, and specialists in the green economy in Abu Dhabi. The event served as a platform for exchanging experiences, building partnerships, and exploring ways to translate climate ambitions into measurable, actionable steps.
Sheikha Shamma emphasized that this transformation signifies a shift from dialogue to implementation. She noted that “Frontier 25” is a natural progression as an innovator and impactful player in climate action. It builds on the efforts initiated by the “Independent Climate Accelerators of the UAE” within a more flexible institutional framework and a clearer vision that responds to the growing climate challenges.
The name “Frontier 25” symbolizes crossing a pivotal phase between crisis and change, with the number 25 representing a critical moment when the world stands poised to transition from challenge to solution. In 2024, global temperatures exceeded the 1.5 degrees Celsius mark above pre-industrial levels for the first time, making 2025 a decisive turning point that necessitates urgent action to maintain the climate neutrality trajectory for both the UAE and the world by 2050.
Sheikha Shamma added, “Our vision has not changed; rather, it has become clearer and deeper. As global temperatures rise, with a pace that has doubled in our region compared to the global average, we must act with urgency and renewed responsibility. We need a more focused mission for our organization—a mission that builds on the alliances we have formed and the ideas we have nurtured, to accelerate our response to the scale of the climate challenge we face today.”
Over the past three years, the “Independent Climate Accelerators of the UAE” have focused on building strategic partnerships, enhancing collaboration, and delivering quality initiatives. They have published over 20 reports and analytical studies, organized more than 20 dialogues and political forums, provided over 25 recommendations supporting the path to climate neutrality, and contributed to the acceleration of more than 80 startups in climate technology. Additionally, the membership of the “UAE Carbon Alliance” has expanded to include over 65 entities and organizations.
Building on this strong foundation, “Frontier 25” will continue its journey of empowering its partners to move towards practical implementation while maintaining its independence, nonprofit nature, and focus on delivering measurable impact.
