Trump Signs Executive Order to Establish Olympic Task Force for Los Angeles 2028

A U.S. administration official informed Reuters that President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order today, Tuesday, to establish a White House Olympic Task Force. This team’s focus will be on security and other issues related to the 2028 Olympic Games.

The official stated that the task force, comprising members from various branches of the Trump administration and federal agencies, will coordinate efforts at the federal, state, and local levels regarding transportation.

Additionally, the official mentioned in a detailed email that the order “will also streamline the visa and accreditation process for foreign athletes, coaches, officials, and media.”

The United States will host the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in three years. Trump, the Republican president who lost the 2020 election to Democrat Joe Biden, expressed his enthusiasm that his second term will coincide with both the Olympics and the 2026 World Cup.

Caroline Levitt, a White House spokesperson, said in a statement on Monday, “During his first term, President Trump played a crucial role in securing America’s bid to host the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.” She added, “The President considers it a tremendous honor to oversee this global sporting event in his second term.”

Last month, organizers of the Los Angeles Games released the preliminary schedule for the Olympic events. The city previously hosted the Olympics in 1932 and 1984.

Kasey Wasserman, the chair of the Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee, mentioned in a statement, “The establishment of this task force is a significant step forward in our planning efforts and reflects our shared commitment to delivering not just the largest Olympic Games, but the greatest Olympic Games the world has ever seen in the summer of 2028.”
