The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat has submitted over 20 complaints against various individuals and platforms for conducting Quran memorization activities through social media channels without the required licenses from the authority or other relevant entities in the UAE.
Dr. Omar Al Derei, the Chairman of the authority, stated that UAE laws rigorously prohibit any religious educational activities, including preaching in private gatherings or teaching and interpreting the Quran, without a valid license from recognized authorities in the country, regardless of whether those activities occur online or in person.
He highlighted that those who violate these regulations will face legal consequences, including significant penalties intended to uphold the nation’s stability and security.
Dr. Al Derei reiterated that the authority is committed to raising awareness about the dangers of such practices, which threaten national security and community well-being, potentially exposing vulnerable individuals to risk.
He urged both Emirati citizens and residents to stay alert and commit to protecting their families from influences that could lead to extremist ideologies, particularly from groups that seek to manipulate minds.
Furthermore, the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat offers Quran teaching and memorization services nationwide through specialized centers, memorization groups in affiliated mosques, and an online platform for remote Quran education.
These services are accessible to everyone, and interested individuals are encouraged to participate to shield themselves and their children from misleading ideologies that could undermine national and social values.
