UAE and Ten Nations Affirm Support for Syria’s Security and Reject Foreign Interference in Its Affairs

Over the past two days, foreign ministers from Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Egypt have engaged in extensive discussions concerning the developments in Syria. These talks focused on a unified stance and collaborative efforts to bolster the Syrian government’s reconstruction initiatives, ensuring the country’s security, stability, unity, sovereignty, and the rights of all its citizens.

The ministers emphasized in a joint statement:

– Their support for Syria’s security, unity, stability, and sovereignty, alongside a rejection of any external interference in its affairs.

– Their approval of the agreement reached to resolve the crisis in the Suwayda province, underscoring the importance of its execution to protect Syria and its citizens, prevent bloodshed, and uphold state sovereignty and law.

– Their acknowledgment of President Ahmad al-Shara’s commitment to hold accountable all those responsible for violations against the Syrian people in Suwayda, and their support for efforts to establish security and uphold state sovereignty and law across all of Syria, while rejecting violence, sectarianism, and attempts to incite discord and hatred.

– Their condemnation of the repeated Israeli assaults on Syria, deeming these actions blatant violations of international law and direct assaults on Syria’s sovereignty that threaten its security, stability, unity, and territorial integrity, undermining the Syrian government’s efforts to realize a new Syria in line with the aspirations of its people.

– Their assertion that Syria’s security and stability are fundamental to regional security and a shared priority.

– Their call for the international community to support the Syrian government in its rebuilding process and for the UN Security Council to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities to ensure the complete withdrawal of Israel from the occupied Syrian territories, halt all Israeli hostilities against Syria, prevent interference in its affairs, and implement resolution 2766 alongside the 1974 disengagement agreement.
