Emirates is planning to introduce its newly unveiled comprehensive courier express service for individuals starting next year, as stated by a senior executive on Tuesday.
“It’s somewhat more challenging due to stricter regulations surrounding personal deliveries. We aren’t ready to launch that just yet, but we hope to initiate it next year. Stay tuned,” said Dennis Lister, senior vice president of product and innovation at Emirates SkyCargo, during an interview.
To ensure safety, the service will initially focus on established shippers, ensuring the entire shipment process maintains integrity from beginning to end. “We are developing the necessary processes and protocols to accommodate personal deliveries in the future. Our initial focus will likely be the UAE market,” he added.
Earlier this month, the Dubai-based airline introduced Emirates Courier Express, a complete delivery service designed to transform the express delivery landscape for individual customers.
Emirates Courier Express boasts access to over 250 wide-body passenger and cargo aircraft for global package distribution.
“The primary advantage of Emirates Courier Express is its capability to connect to any airport in our network, bringing us closer to customers, lowering inventory costs at final destinations, and enhancing delivery speed,” Lister mentioned during the IATA World Cargo Symposium in Dubai.
He reported that the initial reception has been “incredible,” with a high volume of inquiries from potential customers.
“Many individuals are very enthusiastic because we have introduced the fastest integrated door-to-door international parcel solution available. Customers, whether in B2B sectors or small and medium-sized enterprises, are eager for innovative solutions in the market,” he noted.
Lister emphasized that this premium service targets customers who require speedy deliveries. “People expect fast delivery for online orders. They want to know how quickly their items can reach them. We will collaborate with retailers to provide a door-to-door option that enhances delivery times by utilizing our extensive passenger fleet,” he explained.
Expanding to India, China, and Australia
Lister highlighted that Emirates conducts over 138 flights weekly from the UK alone.
He pointed out that the airline is delivering this service via passenger aircraft, making it more efficient and quicker since it serves over 148 destinations. “This allows us to connect packages directly in an effective manner,” he remarked.
The rollout of the program globally will be gradual, relying on a partnership model.
“We will leverage local partners for final-mile and initial pickup services in various markets. These partners will handle shipment collection, fulfillment, customs clearance, and other essential capabilities,” he clarified.
Currently, Emirates Courier Express is operational in seven countries, including the UK, South Africa, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Oman for business clients.
“We are launching in major markets first, and then expanding from there. The development and implementation require time, resources, and personnel. India is our next substantial target, followed by China and eventually the US. That’s the direction we are pursuing,” he noted.
Lister also shared that Emirates Courier Express plans to deliver a wide range of items, including technology, pharmaceuticals, and even sensitive products like blood and vaccine samples in the near future.
“We can provide delivery services for a diverse array of products across various sectors,” he stated.
Thanks to its extensive network, Emirates Courier Express can offer same-day delivery in certain markets.
