The United Arab Emirates University recently organized an exhibition showcasing designs for the “Emirati Mosque,” in collaboration with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments. The event was graced by the presence of His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, the university’s Chancellor.
Also in attendance were His Excellency Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Darwi, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Ahmad Rashid Al-Niyadi, the Director General of the authority, and Ahmad Ali Al-Raisi, the Acting Director of the university.
This event is part of an architectural competition launched by the university aimed at creating a sustainable and innovative model for the Emirati Mosque. Over 60 students from the Department of Architecture within the College of Engineering participated, as part of a practical project for their integrated building design course, supervised by a team of distinguished faculty members.
In his address, His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh emphasized that the “Emirati Mosque” project reflects the university’s commitment to enhancing national identity and reinforcing Islamic values through academic and intellectual innovation.
His Excellency Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Darwi stated that the designs presented at the exhibition represent more than just architectural elements; they symbolize steadfast markers of national identity and are a living extension of the past heritage and a vision for the future.
