Zaporozhye Governor Announces Power Outages Following Russian Airstrikes
Zaporozhye’s governor reported today that nearly 60,000 individuals experienced power outages after overnight Russian airstrikes targeted the frontline area in Ukraine, resulting in two injuries and damage to several buildings.
As winter approaches, Russian forces have intensified missile and drone attacks on electricity generation and distribution facilities, leading to widespread outages that have challenged emergency teams in Kyiv to repair damages and manage outages.
Governor Ivan Fedorov stated via Telegram, “Teams will restore power as soon as the security situation allows,” while sharing nighttime photos of buildings with shattered facades and broken windows.
Zaporozhye has faced near-daily artillery, missile, and drone attacks from Russia, inflicting damage to homes, causing injuries to civilians, and resulting in multiple fatalities. This is part of Moscow’s strategy to pressure Kyiv’s defenses and disrupt connections between southern Ukraine and the rest of the country.
Fedorov noted that the recent nighttime strikes resulted in two injuries. He added that over the past 24 hours, Russian attacks—totaling 800 strikes on 18 residential areas in Zaporozhye—led to one fatality and three injuries by Sunday morning.
