Filmmaker Shakun Batra, renowned for his work on films like “Kapoor & Sons” and “Gehraiyaan,” has recently ventured into the realm of artificial intelligence with the launch of the AI division at his storytelling studio, Jouska Films. A unique video showcasing the proper pronunciation of the studio’s name has garnered significant attention online, where many viewers have recognized it as a commendable application of AI technology.
On Friday, Batra shared an engaging AI-generated video on the official Instagram account of Jouska AI. The inventive clip showcased individuals floating in mid-air as they explained the pronunciation of the studio’s name in a step-by-step manner, concluding with pilots announcing it over an aircraft intercom. The video was captioned, “The official Jouska pronunciation guide. Please say it right. Made in AI.”
Among the viewers, actor Ranveer Singh expressed his amusement with the concept, commenting, “Hahahahaha superb.” Ananya Panday contributed her thoughts with a simple, “Insanee.” Aparshakti Khurana shared his excitement, stating, “Woah!!!! Love itttt.” Fans echoed similar sentiments, with one praising the use of AI as “exactly how it was intended to be… to make a cool concept, epic!!!” Another noted, “Bro uses AI the best,” while a third remarked, “Wow, probably the best AI use I’ve seen (heard).”
In a prior project in 2025, Batra collaborated with Google India on a five-part video series comprising short cinematic vignettes across various genres, including action, comedy, and sci-fi, all facilitated by AI technology. The series kicked off with “The Gateway Car,” which featured Batra’s first attempt at a car chase sequence. In an interview with Moneycontrol, Batra elaborated on the challenges of executing such scenes in traditional production settings, stating, “AI allowed us to visualise, block, and build it without months of preparation or permits.”
He reflected on the future of AI in filmmaking, admitting, “It’s definitely the beginning of something, but whether it becomes a revolution will depend on how we use it. If we’re only using AI to replicate what already exists, then no, it won’t be revolutionary. But if we use it to open doors for new voices and new ways of working, then it could be transformative.”
Shakun Batra’s last feature was the Amazon Prime Video original “Gehraiyaan,” which starred popular actors such as Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa. Released in 2022, the film received mixed reviews, facing criticism for its screenplay and climax. As of now, Batra has not revealed details about his next project, leaving fans eager for what comes next from this innovative filmmaker.
