The White House emphasized on Thursday the role of the United States in managing the escalation in Syria, asserting that its efforts are ongoing following clashes in the southern region that resulted in over 500 fatalities within just a few days.
According to White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt, “Once the United States became involved in the conflict, we were able to contain the escalation.” She added that the Syrian authorities agreed to withdraw their forces from the areas where the clashes were taking place, and that Washington continues to “monitor the situation closely.”
Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara accused Israel today of attempting to dismantle Syria and pledged to protect the Druze minority after the U.S. stepped in to facilitate a ceasefire between government troops and Druze fighters.
