The World Health Organization (WHO) stated on Friday that healthcare services remain inadequate for the population in the Gaza Strip, nearly two weeks after the recent ceasefire began.
Rick Peppercorn, the organization’s representative in the Palestinian territories, reported from Geneva that medical supplies and equipment, which had been blocked for months, are just beginning to arrive.
However, with Israel only opening two border crossings, meeting the healthcare demands remains a challenge.
The organization noted that only 14 out of 36 hospitals in the region are operational, alongside 64 of the 181 health centers, and 109 of the 359 treatment rooms.
Additionally, several key hospitals are in areas still under Israeli control, making them inaccessible to patients. This includes the European Gaza Hospital.
