The Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works is commemorating its 33rd anniversary since its establishment on August 5, 1992, by the late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Over the past three decades, the foundation has solidified its status as a beacon of philanthropy and humanitarian assistance, providing aid exceeding two billion dirhams to over 185 countries worldwide.
His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, emphasized that the United Arab Emirates, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, continues to play a pivotal role in humanitarian and developmental efforts. This is attributed to a visionary approach and high-quality initiatives that enhance its global standing in this domain.
He noted that the UAE’s distinguished position in charitable work is the result of decades of dedicated and sincere efforts, establishing a unique humanitarian legacy initiated by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and furthered by the wise leadership. As a result, the nation has become a model for assisting those in need while promoting values of solidarity and tolerance on an international level. He pointed out that specialized institutions, including the Zayed Foundation, play an active role in delivering aid to the needy and making a significant impact on millions of lives through sustainable development projects focused on education, health, water, and social welfare, ensuring a fairer and more stable future for the most vulnerable communities.
Additionally, Dr. Mohammed Attique Al-Falahi, Director-General of the foundation, stated that the 33rd anniversary marks a significant milestone in its journey, reaffirming its commitment to the principles established by Sheikh Zayed in providing support to all in need, regardless of background, and strengthening partnerships with local and international entities to achieve sustainable humanitarian impact. He highlighted that in the first half of 2025, the foundation initiated several vital projects across various nations, including the establishment of centers for children with special needs in Kazakhstan, implementing solar-powered desalination projects in Egypt, Jordan, and Tanzania, constructing schools in Tajikistan, and operating hospitals and medical centers in Pakistan, Mauritania, and Morocco, in collaboration with several health organizations.
He added that the foundation has also signed various agreements with humanitarian and governmental entities to enhance the sustainability of its projects and broaden the scope of its services in needy regions. This effort is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at maximizing humanitarian impact and establishing the UAE as a global center for goodwill and generosity.
