Abhishek Bachchan Praises Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar as a Cinematic Gem

Abhishek Bachchan recently expressed his admiration for the Ranveer Singh-starrer “Dhurandhar,” predicting that it will outshine any other show or movie. Speaking at the ET NOW Global Business Summit 2026, he also critiqued the viewership figures of the Korean entertainment industry, suggesting that the Indian film industry stands out on the global stage.

During his remarks, Bachchan emphasized that the Indian film industry is the largest in the world. He noted the impressive ticket sales for “Dhurandhar,” stating, “Look at the numbers. Look at the amount of tickets sold. That’s gonna outshine any other show, any other movie.” He argued that comparing Indian cinema to hits like “Squid Game” does not reflect the true scale of the Indian industry’s success.

Bachchan acknowledged the achievements of the Korean film and television sectors, but questioned their viewership numbers compared to the Indian audience. He highlighted that the sheer volume of Indians watching films means they have already surpassed other markets. “What kind of numbers are you trying to achieve to become that fad? I don’t think we want to be a fad,” he concluded.

“Dhurandhar,” which hit theaters on December 5, was directed by Aditya Dhar and features notable actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The film, produced under B62 Studios and Jio Studios, is set in Karachi’s Lyari town and delves into covert intelligence operations amid historical geopolitical events, including the Kandahar plane hijacking and the Mumbai attacks.

In the realm of his own projects, Abhishek Bachchan most recently appeared in the film “Kaalidhar Laapata,” alongside co-stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Daivik Bhagela. Looking ahead, he will star in “King,” directed by Siddharth Anand, which features a star-studded cast including Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. The film is slated for release later this year and promises to be a significant addition to Bachchan’s filmography.
