Badshah’s Haryanvi Hit Tateeree Faces Backlash from Haryana Women’s Commission

Rapper and singer Badshah is currently embroiled in controversy following a formal summons from the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) related to the lyrics of his latest Haryanvi track, “Tateeree”. The song, released earlier this week, has faced backlash for reportedly containing indecent content that some argue breaches cultural norms and modesty standards. The commission has taken notice of the situation due to concerns regarding the potential effects of the song’s lyrics, especially on women and minors.

HSCW chairperson Renu Bhatia has confirmed that proceedings against Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Pratik Singh Sisodia, have been initiated after receiving several complaints. The HSCW acted on its own accord, highlighting public apprehension about the evolving content in modern music. Bhatia emphasized the potential harmful influence of such lyrics on younger listeners.

The official summons, issued on March 6, explicitly names Badshah as the primary respondent. Local authorities in Panipat have been instructed to ensure that all relevant parties are present for the scheduled hearing set for March 13, 2026. The hearing will take place in the Conference Hall of the DC Office in Panipat, with Bhatia presiding over the proceedings.

Among the complainants are Savita Arya, president of the Nari Tu Narayani Utthan Samiti in Panipat, and Shiv Kumar, director of the Shiv Aarti India Foundation. They have alleged that “Tateeree” contains objectionable language and sexual references that they claim objectify women and minors. The complainants have called for stringent action against those responsible for producing content they feel crosses social and moral lines.

In light of the controversy, Renu Bhatia has raised questions about the regulatory framework that allowed “Tateeree” to be released. Drawing from her prior experience on the Film Censor Board, she expressed concern regarding how such lyrics could receive approval despite their potentially offensive nature. Bhatia underscored the importance of understanding the regulatory processes that govern music content, particularly when it intersects with public morality and cultural norms.

“Tateeree,” featuring Badshah and vocalist Simran Jaglan, is a Haryanvi hip-hop single that debuted on March 1, 2026. Badshah penned the lyrics, while Hiten composed the music and handled production. The track combines modern rap influences with regional elements, and its official music video was directed by Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu.
