Palash Muchhal, a musician known for his contributions to the Indian music industry, has recently been in the spotlight due to an ongoing legal situation involving actor and producer Vidnyan Mane. Following the recent cancellation of Muchhal’s wedding with cricketer Smriti Mandhana, he has received a favorable ruling from the Bombay High Court regarding a defamation suit against Mane.
In a ruling delivered by Justice Milind Jadhav on February 11, the court found Mane’s remarks to be “prima facie insinuating and per se defamatory.” Muchhal has initiated legal action to seek damages and a permanent injunction to stop Mane from making defamatory statements against him and his family. The court affirmed that Mane is prohibited from making further disparaging comments regarding Muchhal and his mother.
Representatives for Muchhal, Siddesh Bhole and Shreyansh Mitare, contended that the case evolved from a commercial dispute. They argued that Mane’s remarks pertain to an incident from November 23, 2025, which has potentially tarnished Muchhal’s reputation and that of his relatives. The court has scheduled the next hearing for March 11.
Mane, who resides in Sangli, had filed a police complaint last month after a series of meetings with Muchhal. The interactions began on December 5, 2023, when Muchhal suggested that Mane consider investing in his upcoming film project, “Nazaria.” According to the complaint, Muchhal claimed that Mane’s investment of ₹25 lakh would yield a profit of ₹12 lakh upon the film’s release on OTT platforms, in addition to offering Mane a role in the movie.
Following this, the two met multiple times, and Mane reportedly provided a total of ₹40 lakh to Muchhal by March 2025. However, as the project faced delays and failed to materialize, Mane requested a refund but claimed he received no response. This prompted him to involve the Sangli police, alongside accusations of Muchhal’s alleged dishonesty in his relationship with Smriti prior to their planned marriage.
