Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu,” directed by Anil Ravipudi, has made a significant impact at the box office since its release on January 12. The comedy film, featuring prominent actors Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara, has quickly entered the ₹100 crore club in India. Its timing ahead of the Sankranthi festival likely contributed to its strong performance.
In its opening days, the film garnered impressive earnings, collecting ₹9.35 crore from premieres. It made ₹32.25 crore on the first day, followed by ₹18.75 crore on the second day and ₹19.5 crore on the third. As per early estimates, the fourth day saw a further collection of ₹24.14 crore, bringing the total to approximately ₹103.99 crore thus far.
Despite its commercial success, “Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu” received mixed reviews from critics. On Thursday, the film reported a Telugu occupancy rate of 75.10%. The film has surpassed the lifetime earnings of several of Chiranjeevi’s prior projects, such as “Bholaa Shankar,” “Acharya,” and “Godfather.” Its next milestone is to potentially exceed the ₹161.06 crore domestic collection of “Waltair Veerayya.”
Produced by Sahu Garapati and Sushmita Konidela, the film also features Venkatesh and Catherine Tresa in significant roles. The narrative centers around Shankara Vara Prasad, a national security officer tasked with safeguarding his estranged family while trying to mend their relationships after a lengthy separation.
The film is notably named after Chiranjeevi’s birth name, Sivasankara Varaprasad. Described as a story of redemption and familial bonds, the plot follows a security officer protecting his family from the threats posed by a vengeful former police officer.
In response to strong audience interest, additional screenings have been introduced, with the production team announcing extra shows across all centers. Chiranjeevi celebrated the film’s success by hosting a gathering at his home in Jubilee Hills, where family members, including Ram Charan and Varun Tej, joined fans for a viewing experience.
